Getting Started for Silver Jewellers
Register for voluntary silver hallmarking under IS 2112:2025, get HUID for silver articles, and stay ahead of mandatory requirements.

Why it matters
Silver hallmarking with HUID is currently voluntary but is widely expected to become mandatory — getting started now gives you a competitive advantage.
The revised IS 2112:2025 standard establishes seven purity grades for silver (from 800 to 999), bringing structure to a previously unregulated market.
Hallmarked silver articles command higher consumer confidence and better resale value compared to un-hallmarked alternatives.
What you need before you start
BIS registration as a silver jeweller or manufacturer on manakonline.in
Silver articles in declared purity grades as per IS 2112:2025 (800, 835, 900, 925, 950, 970, or 999)
Invoice and documentation for the articles being submitted
Access to an AHC equipped for silver hallmarking with HUID capability
Step-by-step process
Register for silver hallmarking
If you are already BIS-registered for gold, you can add silver hallmarking to your existing registration. New applicants should register on manakonline.in and specify silver jewellery.
Submit silver articles to an AHC
Bring your silver articles to a BIS-recognized centre equipped for silver testing. Articles are tested using XRF spectrometry to determine silver content and alloy composition.
Receive HUID for silver articles
Articles meeting the declared purity grade under IS 2112:2025 are assigned a HUID and stamped with the hallmark — BIS logo, silver purity grade, and HUID.
Market your hallmarked silver
Use hallmarking as a differentiator in your marketing. Educate customers that HUID-hallmarked silver is purity-verified and traceable — a strong selling point against unverified silver jewellery.
