Getting Started for Gold Jewellery Manufacturers
Register with BIS, prepare your gold articles, submit to an AHC, and receive HUID-stamped hallmarked jewellery.

Why it matters
BIS hallmarking is mandatory for gold jewellery sold in India — non-compliance attracts penalties under the BIS Act 2016.
Hallmarked jewellery commands higher consumer trust and wider market access across retail and e-commerce channels.
HUID-based traceability protects your brand reputation by linking every article back to your manufacturing unit.
What you need before you start
Valid BIS registration as a jeweller or manufacturer on manakonline.in
Gold articles in declared purity grades (14K, 18K, 20K, 22K, or 24K as per IS 1417)
Invoice and documentation linking articles to your BIS registration number
Access to a BIS-recognized Assaying & Hallmarking Centre (AHC)
Step-by-step process
Register on the BIS portal
Create an account on manakonline.in and apply for BIS registration as a gold jewellery manufacturer. Upload the required documents — PAN, GST certificate, premises proof, and photographs.
Prepare your articles
Ensure each gold article is finished and ready for testing. Separate articles by declared karat/purity grade. Maintain an internal record of lot numbers and weights.
Submit articles to an AHC
Bring your gold articles along with the invoice and BIS registration details to a BIS-recognized Assaying & Hallmarking Centre like Varsha Bullion. Articles are logged and tested using XRF spectrometry (or fire assay if required).
Receive HUID for each article
Articles that pass the purity threshold are assigned a unique six-digit alphanumeric HUID by the BIS portal. The hallmark — BIS logo, purity grade, and HUID — is laser-engraved onto the article.
Collect hallmarked articles and documentation
Collect your hallmarked articles along with the test report and HUID certificates. Maintain records for compliance audits and consumer queries.
